Dealership Closed - Ford of Santa Paula - Santa Paula, CA
Ford of Santa Paula has closed their doors due to declining sales and increased losses.
The dealership is one of several Ford stores to close in California this year. The dealership's General Manager indicated that Ford's slide in Market Share from 14% to 7% in California made it too difficult to compete. To me, this was the most interesting quote from the story: "Gosh, it's so sad," said Blanchard. "They were good people, good citizens They were here about five years. Apparently, they only made money in two or three months out of the 60 that they were here." They owned the dealership for five years and yet made money in only two or three of months that they were there. I fear that this story is being repeated throughout America - small town dealerships just struggling to survive.
