Default Is Scott Chevrolet in El Monte closed down?

I received a note that Scott Chevrolet in El Monte closed down on 12/31/08.

I checked their website and it appears that the store is still operational, but that's not always a good indication since it's non uncommon for a closed dealership to have a website that lingers on.

For those that are not familiar with the area, Scott Chevrolet was once owned by AutoNation when they retained the Gunderson Chevrolet branding. The store was a powerhouse operation - one of the largest Chevrolet dealers in the state.

An investigation by the California DMV and a local news station attracted a great deal of attention and lead to four felony convictions. Gunderson Chevrolet made "payment packing" a household term after numerous news stories about the dealership and the DMV's investigation.

Here's a link that provides some history about Gunderson Chevrolet: http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...08/038465.html

If the store has closed it would be added to a growing list of once powerful dealerships that have been forced to close due to the tough economic climate.

Default Scott Inventory

I can't say for sure if they're closed, but they sure have a lot of their inventory available at what GM is calling the warehouse. There is tons of available product that can be picked up from dealers that have closed or are in trouble and need to liquidate. GM is even picking up the shipping on units if they are in your zone.

Thanks for the information.

Does GM/GMAC still have 2007 and 2008 vehicles that they're selling, or are they all 2009 units?

CFC had to liquidate some 2007 and 2008 vehicles from a Chrysler/Jeep dealer that failed in Southern California. They discounted the vehicles up to 40% off Invoice and the dealers could still collect retail and dealer incentives.

It was a great deal for the dealers that acted fast and picked the best units.
