AREA 51 Testing this Weekend

This thread is intended for ALL members of DealershipForum

In response to last month's Security Advisory DealershipForum is in the process of making changes that will limit access to AREA 51 to approved members only.

As a result, most members will not have access to AREA 51 while tests are underway this weekend. Another thread discussing the process for gaining access to AREA 51 will be posted once testing is complete.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to add them to this thread.

Hey, it works....

If a member's User Name is Black then you know they have access to AREA 51.

While we're still working on a couple of minor issues we've made progress and locked-down AREA 51.

I'm looking for input on what should be required to gain access to AREA 51 - this is what I'm thinking about so far:

• Member provides their real name
• Member can respond to an e-mail sent to a dealership address
• Member has at least 25 posts
• Member knows someone who has access to AREA 51 who will vouch for them

None of this is written in stone and I'm open to any ideas or suggestions - you can add them to this thread or send me a PM.

Hehehe..I'll only be able to respond to a dealership address for another week or so...then it's key in the door and coming to work in cargo shorts and shoveling 28 years of crap into a dumpster for a few weeks.

I like the rest of the ideas.

I'm working on a list of "core members" who I know and trust based on personal conversations - you'll definitely be on that list. Once I have the list comprised I'll make changes to the individual user profiles so they have access to AREA 51 without jumping through any hoops. Round one of this process will be completed in a few hours.

And concerning your 28 year collection of "treasures" from Chrysler, don't forget about Ebay before you pitch them in the dumpster. I've been amazed at some of the stuff that people have bid on in the past....

The minimum number of posts suggestion came from CL and I really liked the idea. The goal isn't to screen people out but to encourage more participation.

Concerning your ability to post based on your position as a Sales Representative, CarguyCO sets an excellent example for you to follow.

Well, that didn't happen....

I've been spending my time trying to resolve a couple of small issues and have not had a chance to compile the "pre-approval" list for AREA 51. I'll definitely get the list finished and the authorizations completed tonight so our "core members" will be fully operational on Monday.

OK, I just completed round one of the "pre-approvals."

Please don't be offended if you were not on the "pre-approval" list. I'll post a new thread later tonight detailing the process to gain access.
