Default Minivan Retail Return Program

I was just reading about the Minivan Retail Return Program on DealerConnect.

It sounds like a pretty good program - is anyone here going to participate?

Beyond the 5% charge and the auction fees, are there any "downsides" to the program that you wouldn't know about until you tried it?

I'm not sure that I follow you?

If you could liquidate a 60 day used car for 95% plus the auction fee isn't that a pretty good deal? It seems like you have a limited downside especially since the auction market always seems to be soft in December. On the plus side you might retail the unit and make some money.

Please don't get me wrong - I'm not pushing this program I'm just trying to figure out if there are some hidden aspects that make it less attractive.

X-MAN Do you have time for some math?

This program will cost the dlr's $$$
First of all the will more than likly hold up prices on vehicle run though auction to re coop some of the 5%.
Take a $15000.00 T&C and we don't sell for 60 days what did this experiment cost ?
1) 95% of $15000.00 = $14250 + auction fee $350.00 + frt that bad boy home $400.00 + safety and prep for lot $250.00 + frt that bad boy back $400.00 = $2150.00 - $350.00 auction fee = $1800.00 per unit. In a messed up market that will be what I call a waiste of capitol that I could put to better use. Would you agree ?

Thanks for the explanation - I follow your math.

It doesn't sound like this program will do much to increase purchases of Chrysler minivans at the auctions.

Are there any other programs out there that make sense for the dealer? Not necessarily from Chrysler, but from any Fleet or Auction?
